Horizon Forbidden West - Erend's Full Story

The story of eloy and the mysteries of the world before it was destroyed by machines are the primary drivers of horizon zero dawn of course and will continue to be in the sequel as well but in eloy's journey so far she has met a number of people who have been instrumental to the larger narrative in some form or another one of the most important secondary characters in horizon zero dawn

was aaron who is going to have a role to play in the upcoming forbidden west as well ahead of the sequel's launch here we're going to zoom in on aaron and go through everything that we know about him so far in preparation of wherever his story heads next in horizon forbidden west to understand aaron's story we first need to cover some important background information on the oserum his tribe when aaron and his elder sister ursa were

still children the karja still ruling meridian under the mad king geron used to often raid the lands of oserum killing large numbers of their tribes one such raid saw ursa being captured and enslaved and only managing to escape and make it back home with the help of the carja prince avid who didn't see eye to eye with his father's actions following that ursa and aaron aligned themselves with the oserum resistance

warlord durval in hopes of fighting back against the karja which for a while they did but as durvo's ways became more fueled by anger and bloodlust the siblings realizing what the warlord had turned into left his alliance and went off on their own it was around this time that the karja prince avid reached out to oserem and proposed to form an alliance together

the two tribes stormed to the karja's capital city meridian a battle that aaron and ursa also fought in the event ended with havaad killing his father the mad sun king zhuran and taking the throne of the karja for himself while a faction of the karja did splinter off and run to the loyalists of the mad king's reign in sun fall thus forming

the shadow karja which in turn also led to the formation of the eclipse the karja in the meridian and the oserum further cemented their alliance as the new sun king avad named ursa the captain of his vanguard while aaron was named as her second in command

about two years from this point is where horizon zero dawn's events kick off aaron travels with a retinue of ursaram and karja from meridian to the noro tribe on what's essentially a diplomatic outreach mission also part of this mission is a man named olin a friend of eren's who's serving as a forward scout for the group it's during this trip to the land of nora

that aaron first meets eloy and witnesses the proving ceremony of course during this ceremony the nora are attacked by the shadow karja following which aaron and his retinue are escorted back to meridian by the nora not long after his arrival though aaron received some bad news he's informed that while he was away ursa and the unit of the vanguard with her were killed in an ambush


as such aaron has been made the new captain of the vanguard though understandably he doesn't take the news of his sister very well struggling to cope with her loss while also ensuring that he can shoulder his new responsibilities aaron begins to collapse around this time however eloy arrives at meridian in search of the answers on her own journey

she informs erin olin's involvement in the attack on nora following which he agrees to help her investigate his dwelling there as aaron sees eloy using her focus he comes to realize the full extent of what the device is capable of and allows her to do he asks her to use the focus and help him find his sister's killers and she agrees heading to the site where ursa and her unit were ambushed eloy discovers some startling things

for starters ursa and those with her weren't killed where it was claimed meanwhile aloy and aaron are also attacked at the site by assailants and though they fend off the attack they discover later that the attackers weren't shadow karja but oserum putting the pieces together and finding more evidence eloy figures out that ursa and her unit were ambushed at a different location and biocerum attackers rather than the shadow karja and that they'd use some sort of weapon

that uses sound crucially eloy also learns that this unit was used to incapacitate ursa and the soldiers with her not kill them which means there's a chance she could still be alive with this information aaron heads back to the meridian to investigate ursa's body and upon finding out that the corpse isn't his sister's he heads with aeloy to avad and tell him everything they've discovered

avid spymaster informs that based on the fact that ursa was attacked by oserum fighters and based on the technology that they had used the only person who could have likely ambushed her is the osirim warlord derval who of course aaron and ursa had been allied with at one point in their lives aaron and eloy head to duvall's camp and though the warlord himself isn't there they do find ursa

she's not in good shape having been tortured by duvall and though she does inform them of duvall's plans for bombing meridian and killing avad she ultimately succumbs to her wounds before she dies she tells aaron that captaining the vanguard is now his responsibility merit avid spymaster soon learns the location of the bomb in

meridian which is where duval could potentially be as well aaron and eloy head to that location and though they've been ordered by avad to capture duvall and bring him in alive aaron obviously wants payback for the death of his sister when they reach the warehouse where the bomb is supposed tobe they do find the explosive and ensure that it doesn't explode anywhere in the city where it could hurt anyone or damage anything though terval is nowhere to be found

aaron returns to the palace while eloy investigates the area and discovers that durvall was able to find a secret route into the palace that would bypass all of avid security at the palace durval uses his sound-based weapon to incapacitate avat merid aaron and all the soldiers with them though eloy arrives in the nick of time to stop him ultimately helping aaron taking him captive as per avid's orders with the whole ordeal wrapped up aaron informs ayloy that he's going to travel back home with ursa's

remains and organize her funeral and thanks eloy for her help of course towards the end of horizon zero dawn aaron returns and fights alongside eloy as meridian is attacked by the eclipse and the army of corrupted machines under their control at the spire aaron is alongside eloy as she defeats many corrupted machines including deathbringer and ultimately destroys hades and stops him from re-initiating the destruction of the biosphere

after the events of horizon zero dawn we do know that aaron is given a position on the council for the restoration of meridian but it doesn't take long for the bureaucracy that goes hand in hand with that position convinces him to leave the council in horizon forbidden west which takes place several months after the events of the first game we do know that aaron varl and eloy depart for their titular

forbidden west together and that aaron is helping eloy with whatever her goal is in the game it remains to be seen what the full extent of his involvement in the story will be and how pivotal a part he's going to play in the game but it does seem like aaron is once again
